Things to Know Before Your Wax
-
Hair should be about ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). This allows the wax to grip the hair effectively for optimal results.
-
Gentle exfoliation 24 hours before helps prevent ingrown hairs also helps remove dead skin cells, allowing for a smoother waxing process. Please discontinue chemical exfoliation 5 days prior to appointment.
-
Drink plenty of water. Keep your skin well hydrated leading up to your appointment. Moisturized skin is more elastic, making hair removal less painful.
-
Avoid prolonged sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Sunburn or overly tanned skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation during waxing. In certain cases Sunburned skin may not be able to be waxed—this will be assessed during your visit
-
Refrain from applying lotions, oils, or creams to the area being waxed on the day of your appointment. These products can create a barrier, making it difficult for the wax to adhere to the hair effectively.
-
Loose clothing helps reduce irritation and friction afterwards.
Things to Know After Your Wax
-
Resist the urge to touch the freshly waxed area to prevent irritation or bacteria from entering open follicles.
-
Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer or aloe for calming the skin and reduce redness. I highly recommend light aloe by skin script (sold inside the suite)
-
Steer clear of hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, sexual intercourse, and intense exercise to prevent irritation and infection entering open follicles.
-
The skin is more susceptible to sunburn immediately after waxing. Apply sunscreen if you need to be outdoors
-
Wear breathable, loose clothing to reduce friction.
-
After 48 hours, exfoliate the waxed area to prevent ingrown hairs. Exfoliate 2-3 times a weeks
-
Rebook every 4–5 weeks for best results
